Science LD 326T (Conference Room)

Abstract: This seminar presents my personal experiences teaching at Prairie View A&M University, an Historically Black College and University in the Texas A&M University System. I begin by detailing some of my early educational choices and career opportunities. Next, I discuss a number of unique challenges and opportunities experienced while teaching at a school that is largely a minority-serving institution. Finally, I present some of the outreach, professional development and service activities that serving such a constituent group have opened up for me over the last several years, with specific emphasis on how these activities can be translated in other settings.
